The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed veteran American offensive lineman Eric Lofton.

Last season, he started 14 games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders at tackle. The six-foot-four, 293-pounder returns to the Manitoba capital after spending the 2022 season with the blue and gold.

The 30-year-old Lofton spent two seasons (2019-2020) with the Edmonton Elks, suiting up in two games. He started his CFL career with the Ottawa Redblacks, dressing for four games during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The New Jersey native played five NCAA seasons (2011-2015) at Temple University. He appeared in 37 games while making starts at right tackle, right guard and left guard.

Winnipeg lost all-star right tackle Jermarcus Hardrick to Saskatchewan during free agency. That spot is open for competition on the Bombers’ offensive line.

The Blue Bombers open the 2024 regular season by hosting the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 6.
