The Calgary Stampeders have officially signed American defensive back Demerio Houston to a two-year contract. 3DownNation reported last week that the deal includes $275,000 in hard money, making him one of the highest-paid defensive backs in the CFL.

The 27-year-old played 15 games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2023, leading the CFL with seven interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He racked up 50 defensive tackles and was named a CFL all-star for the first time in his career.

The five-foot-ten, 173-pound defender originally signed with Winnipeg ahead of the cancelled 2020 season and has appeared in 30 games over the last three years, making 84 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, and nine interceptions.
