The Edmonton Elks have agreed to terms with the CFL’s reigning Most Outstanding Special Teams Player, Javon Leake, barring anything unforeseen, he’s expected to sign a one-year contract for the 2024 season with the team, per sources.

Since joining the Toronto Argonauts in 2022, the 25-year-old has amassed 2,859 all-purpose yards in 25 games. He returned 82 punts for 1,216 yards and four touchdowns — both Argo franchise records — last season.

Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Feb. 11. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team for 2024, however, these deals aren’t legally binding and can’t be finalized or made official until after free agency opens on Feb. 13.
