The Ottawa Redblacks have released Canadian receiver Nate Behar, per sources.

The 29-year-old had one year remaining on his contract with the team and was scheduled to earn $140,000 in hard money next season. Ottawa will still be on the hook for $30,000 of his salary, however, as the London, Ont. native had a partial guarantee under the terms of the CFL’s current collective bargaining agreement.

Behar was limited to 12 games in 2023 and saw his production dip as the Redblacks struggled with quarterback issues. He caught 39 passes for 394 yards and one touchdown, finishing fourth on the team.

Prior to turning pro, Behar caught 178 passes for 2,577 yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons with the Ravens. He bid goodbye to the nation’s capital in an Instagram post on Sunday.

The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
