Concordia Stingers hire Samuel Thomassin as offensive line coach

Former CFL player Samuel Thomassin has been named the offensive line coach at Concordia University.

The 28-year-old announced his retirement last month following a four-year CFL career with the Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Elks.

The Quebec City native was a second-round selection in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Laval Université. He returned to the Rouge et Or for his final season of U Sports eligibility that year before spending the 2021 season with the Alouettes, dressing for two games in a depth role. He spent the first half of the 2022 season with the Als before being released by the team.

The six-foot-six, 330-pound blocker signed with the Edmonton Elks shortly thereafter and finished the season on the club’s practice roster. He returned to the Elks in 2023 but didn’t dress for any regular season games, spending the entire year on the six-game injured list.

Concordia finished the 2023 regular season with a 5-3 record, finishing third-place in the RSEQ behind Laval and the Université de Montreal. The club was eliminated from the postseason in the semifinal round following a 34-27 loss to the Rouge et Or.
