The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian offensive lineman Tomas Jack-Kurdyla to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the team through 2025. He was a pending free agent.
The native of Montreal, Que. has played 42 games since being selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 CFL Draft and made 18 starts this past season at right guard.
The 27-year-old played four seasons at the University at Buffalo from 2016 to 2019, making 40 starts at guard. The Bulls’ offensive line earned an honourable mention for the Joe Moore Award in 2019, which is awarded to the best 15 offensive lines in the NCAA.
The Elks also signed American offensive lineman Antonio Garcia and American defensive back Brendon White.
Garcia started Edmonton’s season-opener at left tackle in 2022 but was released following the game. He had previously been a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The 30-year-old blocker played with the Vegas Vipers and DC Defenders of the XFL in 2023 as well as the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL. The big-bodied blocker was originally a third-round pick of the New England Patriots in the 2017 NFL Draft and has also spent time with the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins.
White most recently played with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League, recording 57 total tackles, one sack, and one pass deflection in six games. He also had a brief stint with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in 2023.
The Rutgers product made 40 tackles, one interception, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble in his final collegiate season to be named an All-Big Ten Honourable Mention. He started his collegiate career at Ohio State University. His father, William White, spent 11 seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons.
