Montreal Carabins linebacker Harold Miessan has won the President’s Trophy as Canada’s top standup defensive player.
This is the second consecutive season in which a member of the Carabins has received the award, with fellow linebacker Nicky Farinaccio taking home the trophy in 2022. Miessan beat out Mount Allison defensive back Daniel Bell, Saskatchewan linebacker Nick Wiebe, and Ottawa linebacker Max Charbonneau for this year’s award.
The third-year standout collected 36 total tackles, a quarterback sack, and two interceptions to earn the award. He was previously named the RSEQ’s outstanding defensive rookie in 2021.
The Montreal Carabins will face off against the UBC Thunderbirds in the 58th Vanier Cup on Saturday, November 25 at 1:00 p.m. EST in Richardson Memorial Stadium in Kingston, Ont.
