Montreal Alouettes’ QB Cody Fajardo named Most Valuable Player in 110th Grey Cup

Montreal Alouettes’ quarterback Cody Fajardo has been named the Most Valuable Player in the 110th Grey Cup after leading his team to a 28-24 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.

The veteran passer completed 21-of-26 passes for 290 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also carried the ball twice for 18 yards.

The 31-year-old is in his seventh season in the CFL and fourth as a starter. He joined the Alouettes as a free agent this past off-season after the Saskatchewan Roughriders chose not to retain him following the 2022 season.

The native of Brea, Calif. threw for 3,847 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions over 17 games this season, leading the Alouettes to an 11-7 record during the regular season.

This was Fajardo’s first Grey Cup victory as a starter. He has now won two over the course of his career with the first coming as a member of the Toronto Argonauts in 2017.
