Riders re-sign Canadian receiver Brayden Lenius

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian receiver Brayden Lenius to a one-year contract extension after he missed almost the entirety of the 2023 season due to injury.

The 26-year-old suffered a lacerated kidney during the team’s second preseason game which forced him to sit out the first seven weeks of the season. He returned in Week 8, only to suffer a season-ending lisfranc sprain in his first game. Lenius remained active in the community despite his injuries and received the team’s nomination for the Jake Gaudaur Award for his perseverance.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft, Lenius has recorded 58 receptions for 659 receiving yards and five touchdowns over four seasons in Regina. He had a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons following a breakout 2021 season before returning to the Riders late in 2022.

The six-foot-five, 220-pound target finished his collegiate career at New Mexico after spending his first three seasons at Washington. Throughout his four collegiate seasons, Lenius recorded 581 career receiving yards and four touchdowns.
