Calgary Stampeders bring back defensive lineman Damontre Moore

The Calgary Stampeders have signed defensive lineman Damontre Moore.

The 31-year-old signed with Calgary in October and dressed for one regular season game, recording two defensive tackles. He finished the season on the team’s practice roster, making him a free agent. He is now slated to be back with the club in 2024.

Moore was a third-round pick of the New York Giants in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M. He dressed for 42 games over three seasons with the team, recording 43 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, three knockdowns, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

The Miami Dolphins claimed him off waivers in December 2015 and he dressed for three games with the team, making one tackle, one sack, and one knockdown. He was released by the club in May 2016 and had brief stints with the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks that same year, dressing for four games and making seven total tackles, two tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks.

The six-foot-five, 260-pound edge rusher signed with the Dallas Cowboys in March 2017 but was suspended for the first two games of the regular season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He dressed for three games with the Cowboys before brief stints with the Raiders, San Diego Fleet (AAF), and San Francisco 49ers.

Moore signed with the Seattle Seahawks in September 2020 and dressed for ten games, recording nine total tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble. He was suspended for six games in November 2020 after violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

He was a member of the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers in 2021 but did not dress for any regular season games.

The native of DeSoto, Texas was a member of the Toronto Argonauts last season and dressed for one game with the team before suffering an injury. He returned with the club in 2023 but was released at the conclusion of training camp.
