Ottawa Redblacks’ DB Abdul Kanneh out for season with broken hand

The Ottawa Redblacks’ defensive back Abdul Kanneh will miss rest of the season with a broken hand, according to TSN 1200′s AJ Jakubec. He will undergo surgery.

The five-foot-ten, 170-pound cover man has started all 13 games for the Redblacks at field-side halfback this season and made 38 tackles and one interception.

The 33-year-old first came to the CFL in 2014 following stints with the Cleveland Browns and the Arena Football League. He played three seasons in Ottawa before stops with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2017) and Toronto Argonauts (2018-19) before returning to the Redblacks as a free agent in 2020.

The two-time East Division all-star and one-time CFL all-star has played 107 career CFL games and recorded 353 tackles, 20 interceptions, seven sacks, eight forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown. He also won a Grey Cup as a member of the Redblacks in 2016.

The Redblacks (3-9) are scheduled to visit the B.C. Lions (8-4) on Saturday, Sept. 16 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
