Toronto Argonauts release veteran receiver Markeith Ambles

The Toronto Argonauts have released veteran receiver Markeith Ambles.

The six-foot-two, 197-pound target signed back with the team this past off-season after setting all-new career highs in 2022 with 72 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns. He suffered an injury before the first week of the season and recently completed a stint on the six-game injured list.

The 31-year-old native of McDonough, Ga. spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders, recording 117 catches for 1,399 yards and seven touchdowns.

Ambles has won two Grey Cups, first with Calgary in 2018 before winning a second with Toronto in 2022.

The Argos (6-0) are scheduled to visit the Stamps (2-5) on Friday, Aug. 3 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
