Montreal Alouettes release two, including DL Nick Heninger

The Montreal Alouettes have released American defensive linemen Nick Heninger and Jabari Ellis.

Heninger dressed for the team’s season-opening victory over the Ottawa Redblacks, though he did not record any statistics. He was moved to the one-game injured list for the following game before being added to the practice roster this past week.

The 27-year-old was named honourable mention all-Mountain West at Utah State in 2021 after recording 75 total tackles, nine sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles over 14 starts with the Aggies.

Ellis dressed for two games last season and recorded two defensive tackles. He was moved the the practice roster following training camp this year and did not dress for the team’s first three regular season games.

The Alouettes (2-1) are scheduled to visit the B.C. Lions (3-0) on Sunday, July 9 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
