Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ RB Brady Oliveira doubtful vs. B.C. Lions

Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ running back Brady Oliveira has been listed as doubtful for Thursday’s game against the B.C. Lions due to a thorax injury. He did not participate in practice with the club this week.

The 25-year-old ball-carrier left last week’s win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders midway through the fourth quarter. He is currently the league’s second-leading rusher with 32 carries for 155 yards and one touchdown on the season.

The Winnipeg native took over the starting role from Andrew Harris last season, which was his third in the CFL. He ran for 1,001 yards and four touchdowns over 18 starts in the backfield and caught 23 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown.

Oliveira was replaced in the game by fellow Canadian running back Johnny Augustine, who is in his fifth season with the team. The 29-year-old rushed for 31 yards last week, bringing his career totals to 156 carries for 899 yards and one touchdown.

The Blue Bombers (2-0) will host the B.C. Lions (2-0) on Thursday at IG Field with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The two teams met in last year’s West Final, which Winnipeg won by a score of 28-20.
