The Calgary Stampeders released national defensive lineman Kwadwo Boahen from the practice roster in order to allow him to return to school at the University of Alberta.

Boahen was chosen with the 22nd overall pick in the third round and played in both of Calgary’s preseason games, making two tackles.

The six-foot, 278-pound defender played seven games for the Golden Bears in 2022, making 21 tackles and one sack. The Calgary, Alberta native transferred from York University to the University of Alberta and during his three seasons with the Lions, Boahen accumulated 55 tackles and five sacks and was named to the Ontario University Athletics All-Rookie team in 2018.
