The Atlanta Falcons have released former Toronto Argonauts’ defensive back Jamal Peters.

The 26-year-old started 15 games for the Argos at boundary cornerback in 2022 and recorded 57 tackles, six interceptions, one sack, and one touchdown en route to being named a league all-star. He also started the East Final and Grey Cup and made eight tackles and one forced fumble to help the Argos win a CFL championship.

Peters signed with Toronto in February 2021 and spent time on the practice roster before making his professional debut in Week 2. He dressed for eight games and recorded 32 tackles and one interception.

The six-foot-two, 220-pound cover man went unselected in the 2019 NFL Draft following a four-year college career at Mississippi State. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent but was released shortly after with an injury settlement.

Peters signed a futures contract with the Falcons back in January.
