Canadian coach Amanda Ruller named offensive assistant at Central Washington

Canadian coach Amanda Ruller has been hired as an offensive assistant coach at Central Washington University.

The Regina native was hired by the Seattle Seahawks as part of the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship Program in 2022. She helped coach a backfield that included Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, and second-round pick Kenneth Walker III, who ran for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns during his rookie season.

Ruller was also one of nine individuals selected for the CFL’s Women in Football training camp internship program in 2022, joining her hometown Roughriders for preseason preparations. In 2021, she coached running backs, special teams, and strength and conditioning at McMaster University.

The former star sprinter with the University of Regina is an accomplished athlete in her own right, competing at a national level in track, bobsleigh, and skeleton. A was a silver medalist for the Canadian National Team at the Women’s World Championships in 2017 and previously played running back for the LA Temptation and Atlanta Steam of the Legend’s Football League.

Central Washington competes in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) of NCAA Division II. The school’s notable alumni includes Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ linebacker Adam Bighill, former CFL quarterback Michael Reilly, and former NFL quarterback John Kitna.

Ruller has also served as a premier strength and speed coach in Saskatchewan, working with the University of Regina Rams. She has also competed in Olympic weight-lifting and held provincial records in her weight class.

She has also contributed for 3DownNation, most recently serving as a correspondent from the NFL Combine.
