Riders sign American linebacker La’Akea Kaho’ohanohano-Davis

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added American linebacker La’Akea Kaho’ohanohano-Davis to their roster ahead of the 2023 season.

The six-foot-one, 215-pound defender attended Southern Utah University for five seasons, spread across two separate stints with the school from 2016 to 2017 and again from 2018 to 2021. He was named a first-team All-Big Sky selection in 2020 after recording 57 tackles and seven sacks. He earned a second-team selection in 2021 after leading the team with 73 tackles and adding three sacks and an interception.

The native of Hawaii played 20 career games with the Thunderbirds, recording 140 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, one interception, three pass knockdowns, and two forced fumbles.

Kaho’ohanohano-Davis went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and later attended rookie mini-camp with the Seattle Seahawks.
