Pass the Mike: Lions add veteran American DB Mike Jones

The B.C. Lions have signed another veteran American to their secondary, adding two-time Grey Cup champion Mike Jones.

The five-foot-10, 189-pound defensive back played 18 games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2022, recording 47 defensive tackles, one interception and a forced fumble. He spent each of the previous two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bomber, taking home the championship each time.

Jones registered 46 defensive stops, two interceptions and a forced fumble while playing all 14 games in 2021. He played seven games as a rookie in 2019, recording ten defensive tackles and a forced fumble.

Prior to his time in the CFL, the Baltimore, Md. native spent four seasons at North Carolina Central before transferring to Temple for his senior season. Jones started all 13 games for the Owls at cornerback in 2017, amassing 44 combined tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants but was cut following training camp.
