The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. to a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday.
The six-foot, 230-pound defender has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He has dressed for 14 career games, recording nine defensive tackles, 16 special teams tackles, and one sack.
The 26-year-old native of Douglas, Ala. played collegiately at the University of Texas following a transfer from Dodge City Community College. He recorded 150 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles over 26 career games with the Longhorns.
