The Ottawa Redblacks have signed defensive tackle Michael Wakefield.
The 29-year-old began his CFL career with the Redblacks in 2017, playing in 39 games over three seasons with the club. He has spent the past two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes, tallying 43 defensive tackles and seven sacks in 26 games as a rotational player.
In 65 career CFL games, Wakefield has amassed 97 defensive tackles, 14 sacks and one interception.
A native of Valdosta, Ga. Wakefield played four seasons at Florida International University, finishing third all-time in school history with 17.5 sacks and 35.5 tackles for loss. He signed with the Washington Football Team as an undrafted free agent in 2016 but was released following training camp.
