Ottawa Redblacks re-sign Canadian receiver Tevaun Smith

The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed Canadian receiver Tevaun Smith, according to league sources. The contract extension is for one year.

The 30-year-old joined the Redblacks on May 21, 2022 following his release from the Edmonton Elks. He dressed for eight games and made 14 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns, starting three games at slotback.

The six-foot-two, 197-pound target was a first-round pick in the 2016 CFL Draft out of Iowa. He spent three years in the NFL as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars before signing his first CFL contract in February 2019.

Smith has made 96 career receptions for 1,098 yards and eight touchdowns over three seasons in the CFL. He was set to become a free agent on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
