The B.C. Lions have signed Canadian linebacker Isaiah Guzylak-Messam to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2024.

The 27-year-old was a critical piece of the Lions’ special teams unit in 2022, recording 16 special teams tackles in 17 games. He has played 57 career games through four seasons with B.C., amassing 40 special teams tackles, 37 defensive tackles, and a sack.

The Hamilton native was selected 34th overall in the fourth round of the 2018 CFL Draft after an outstanding four-year stint at Wilfrid Laurier. Guzylak-Messam was named an OUA second-team all-star in 2017, having recorded 82 total tackles, five tackles for a loss, two interceptions and 11 pass breakups over 24 career games at the U Sports level.
