Canadian safety Sydney Brown declares for 2023 NFL Draft

Canadian safety Sydney Brown has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and will not play in the Reliaquest Bowl for Illinois next month in Tampa. 

Brown registered 60 tackles, six interceptions, seven passes defended and one forced fumble as a senior for Illinois. He also had two defensive scores in the season finale against Northwestern.

“It has been a journey,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “The past five years have been filled with so many ups and downs that have helped me become the man I am today.

Brown was a nominee for the 2022 Jon Cornish Trophy which was awarded to his brother Chase Brown who also plays for Illinois.
