Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers believes the CFL is ‘a fun game to watch’

The CFL has a high-profile fan south of the border who also happens to be a four-time NFL MVP quarterback.

“That’s a fun game to watch, I love the three downs, motion before the snap,” Aaron Rodgers told Serge Ibaka on Sportsnet. “There’s some fun cities up there: Toronto. Toronto’s a good city, right? Vancouver has a team, Montreal has a team. You’ve got some fun cities up there.”

Rodgers spoke about the league when asked about Tom Brady’s comments from last month when he joked about wanting to play in the CFL someday.

Coincidentally, Rodgers has already been inside a CFL stadium, albeit for an NFL preseason game. Him and the Green Bay Packers “visited” the Las Vegas Raiders at IG Field in Winnipeg during the preseason in August 2019. Rodgers spent the game on the sidelines and is most remembered for wearing a Canadian tuxedo to the airport.

Unlike his future Hall of Fame counterpart, Rodgers didn’t joke about playing in the CFL once his days in the NFL are done.

“I don’t think I’m going to play in Canada,” said Rodgers. “I think when I’m done with this, I’m probably done with football.”

The 39-year-old was a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft and has been Green Bay’s starter since 2008, posting a 144-74-1 regular season record and leading the team to a victory in Super Bowl XLV. He has thrown for 58,224 yards, 471 touchdowns, and 102 interceptions, rushed for 3,439 yards and 34 touchdowns, and won four MVP awards.

The Packers currently sit third in the NFC North with a record of 5-8.
