Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Canadian defensive lineman Charbel Dabire to one-year contract extension

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Canadian defensive lineman Charbel Dabire (pronounced SHAR-belle DUH-beer) to a contract extension that will keep him in green and white for the 2023 season.

The six-foot-one, 290-pounder played 15 games for the Riders last season, recording 10 defensive tackles, one tackle for loss and two sacks.

The 25-year-old was selected in the fifth round, 44th overall, by the Riders in the 2019 CFL Draft. He has played in 37 career regular season games and three playoff games for the Riders, amassing 24 defensive tackles, one special team tackle and four sacks.

Dabire spent three collegiate seasons at Wagner College in New York and was named team captain in 2018. In 33 games played for the Seahawks, Dabire recorded 73 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, two sacks and returned a blocked kick for a touchdown.
