The Edmonton Elks have signed former University of Virginia defensive lineman Elliott Brown to a rookie deal.

The six-foot-five, 232-pound edge rusher played five seasons for the Cavaliers from 2017 to 2021, making 61 total tackles, five sacks and one interception in 53 games. He broke out as a senior in 2021, starting in five of his 12 appearances and recording 42 tackles — good enough for sixth on the team — along with three sacks. The Odenton, Maryland native was also named to the 2021 ACC Academic Honor Roll.

A three-sport athlete in high school who primarily played receiver, Brown dazzled at his Virginia pro day but did not receive an NFL opportunity. He clocked a 4.59-second forty-yard dash with a blazing 1.58-second ten-yard split, while also recording a 37-inch vertical and 10-foot, six-inch broad jump.
