Ticats re-sign linebacker Kyle Wilson

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have inked American linebacker Kyle Wilson to a new two-year contract that will keep him with the team through the 2024 season.

The 27-year-old defender played in 17 regular season games and the East Semi-Final in 2022, making 10 starts in place of the injured Simoni Lawrence. Wilson racked up 42 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, five tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pass knockdown in that span.

The six-foot, 229-pound linebacker has suited up in 21 games over two seasons in Hamilton, accumulating 46 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, five tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pass knockdown. Wilson has played both traditional linebacker positions, weakside and middle, throughout his CFL career.

Prior to the CFL, Wilson appeared in three regular season and two playoff games with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018, registering four combined tackles overall. He was originally signed as an undrafted NFL free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wilson spent two years at Arkansas State University, posting 172 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, four quarterback sacks, one interception, one pass knockdown and one forced fumble in 25 games. He earned second-team All-Sun Belt honours as a senior in 2017.
