The Edmonton Elks have signed American receiver Dillon Mitchell to a contract extension through 2025, the team announced on Monday.

The six-foot-one, 190-pound target signed with the team as a free agent in July and has since dressed for nine games, starting primarily at boundary wide receiver. He finished the year with 35 catches for 637 yards and four touchdowns, leading the team in receptions over 30 yards with six.

Mitchell was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and spent time on their practice roster in 2019 and 2020. He had a sensational junior season at Oregon in 2018 where he recorded a program single-season record with 1,184 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns and was named AP Pac-12 All-Conference second team.

The Elks finished the 2022 season at the bottom of the West Division standings with a 4-14 record. They are on a bye this week while the rest of the league’s teams close out the regular season.

Mitchell is the latest member of the team to sign a contract extension with other recent re-signings including quarterback Taylor Cornelius, offensive lineman Jesse Gibbon, and defensive back Scott Hutter.
