Calgary Stampeders to be without all-purpose RB Peyton Logan for clash with Roughriders

The Calgary Stampeders will be without dynamic running back Peyton Logan for Saturday’s West Division clash with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The 23-year-old injured his ankle in the fourth quarter of Calgary’s 35-32 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Friday and was a limited participant in the final two days of practice this week after sitting out the first day.

The University of Tennesse at Martin product has been a multi-purpose weapon for the Stampeders in 2022, complimenting starting running back Ka’Deem Carey throughout the season. The five-foot-eight, 189-pounder is third in the league in punt return yards and sixth in kickoff yards. Logan has scored twice on special teams, once on a kickoff and another on a missed field goal, and he has also rushed for 344 yards and three touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 180 yards in his first CFL season.

Calgary will also be without Canadian receiver Luther Hakunavanhu, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, and leading receiver Malik Henry, who will miss this week’s game with the same ankle injury that kept him out of last week’s contest against the Tiger-Cats.

The Stampeders (10-6) travel to Saskatchewan to take on the Roughriders (6-10) on Saturday afternoon. Depending on the outcome for Friday’s game between the B.C. Lions and Edmonton Elks, Calgary could enter Saturday’s game with their playoff seeding already set. If the Lions beat the Elks on Friday night then the Stamps will travel to Vancouver to take on a possible Nathan Rourke-led Lions squad in the West Semi-Final on November 6.
