Toronto Argonauts release American receiver Isaiah Wright

The Toronto Argonauts have released American receiver Isaiah Wright, the team announced on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old dressed for five games this season and made two receptions for 26 yards. He also returned 10 punts for 58 yards and seven kickoffs for 169 yards.

The native of Waterbury, Conn. went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft and was signed by the Washington Commanders in April of that year. He played 14 games with the club and recorded 27 catches for 197 yards that season.

The six-foot-two, 220-pound target played four seasons at Temple University (2016-2019) where he made 134 receptions for 1,552 and 12 touchdowns for the Owls. He also returned three punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns during his collegiate career, while being named first-team All-AAC as a return specialist in 2018.

The Argos (8-5) are scheduled to visit the Calgary Stampeders (9-5) on Saturday, Oct. 1 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
