Montreal Alouettes release veteran receiver Dante Absher

The Montreal Alouettes have released American receiver Dante Absher.

The 28-year-old started one game with the team this season in place of an injured Jake Wieneke and made one reception for three yards.

The six-foot-three, 180-pound target first joined the Alouettes in November 2018 and dressed for two games the following year, recording eight receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown along with two kickoff returns for 45 yards. He returned to the team in 2021 and played five games, catching five passes for 90 yards along with five punt returns for 34 yards.

Absher made 214 receptions for 2,670 yards and 29 touchdowns during his collegiate career with the Glenville State College Pioneers.

The Alouettes (6-7) are scheduled to visit the Edmonton Elks (4-10) on Saturday, Oct. 1 with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m. EDT.
