Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ quarterback Matthew Shiltz will miss the next four-to-six weeks due to a wrist injury, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury in last week’s 37-20 loss to the Toronto Argonauts while playing in relief of Dane Evans. He completed 13-of-15 pass attempts in the game for 144 yards and a touchdown pass to slotback Lemar Durant.

Shiltz recently started back-to-back games for the Ticats while Dane Evans missed time due to a shoulder injury, leading the team to a 1-1 record. He has completed 72.7 percent of his pass attempts for 748 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions through 11 games this season.

The six-foot-two, 205-pound passer signed with Hamilton as a free agent in February after a four-year stint with the Montreal Alouettes. He completed 62 percent of his pass attempts in La Belle Province for 1,866 yards, eight touchdowns, and eleven interceptions. He also rushed 50 times for 313 yards and two touchdowns.

Evans started Hamilton’s most recent game and took over the controls again following the injury to Shiltz. He completed 19-of-30 pass attempts for 244 yards and three interceptions while also losing one fumble. The 28-year-old took responsibility for the loss when speaking to the media after the game while vowing to work to correct his mistakes moving forward.

The Ticats (3-8) are scheduled to host the Toronto Argonauts (5-5) on Monday, Sept. 5 for a fourth and final regular season meeting with kickoff slated for 12:00 p.m. EDT.
