CFL fines Riders’ receiver Duke Williams for viral nacho-eating touchdown celebration

The Canadian Football League has fined Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Duke Williams for violating the league’s security protocol during his team’s Week 10 victory over Edmonton.

The financial penalty stems from the celebration following Williams’ go-ahead touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of action against the Elks. After hauling in the catch, the receiver was seen hurdling the barricade to Commonwealth Stadium’s field-level seating and grabbing a plate of nachos from a fan, later relaxing in the endzone seats while enjoying a hard-earned snack.

The incident is not the first time that Williams has drawn the ire of the CFL this season, as he was suspended for one game earlier this year after a pre-game altercation with Toronto’s Shaquille Richardson in which he through his opponent’s helmet at him and was accused of spitting.

In addition, the CFL fined Edmonton Elks’ linebacker Matthew Thomas for a high hit on B.C. Lions receiver Keon Hatcher in Week 9.

As per league policy, the amounts of the player fines were not disclosed.
