Montreal Alouettes’ defensive lineman Avery Ellis missed a second consecutive practice on Monday due to a hip injury.
The 27-year-old has recorded 17 defensive tackles and three sacks through seven games this season. He has started all seven contests at defensive end opposite Nick Usher.
Ellis signed with the Alouettes as a free agent in February following a five-year stint with the Ottawa Redblacks. He recorded 129 defensive tackles, one special teams tackles, 18 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one touchdown over 57 games in the nation’s capital.

Return specialist Chandler Worthy also missed a second consecutive day of practice due to an ankle injury, while quarterback Trevor Harris returned as a full participant after being limited on Sunday due to a back injury. Backup quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. remains limited due to an elbow injury that held him out of last week’s loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The Alouettes are scheduled to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, Aug. 4 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. ET.
