The CFL has included a $1 million ratification bonus to the Canadian Football Players’ Association as part of its new proposal to the union, according to TSN’s Dave Naylor.

Just spoke to commissioner @RandyAmbrosie and got details on @CFL‘s new offer to players: — league provides $1 million ratification bonus to players. But removes $450k from 2022 cap and $675 in guarantees in ‘28. The ‘28 cap may not be affected if revenue sharing kicks-in#CFL

Naylor also reported that the deadline for players to accept the deal is Thursday at midnight ET.

Postmedia’s Dan Barnes reported that CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie also indicated training camps will shut down if the players reject the league’s latest offer. The league would also stop housing and feeding players as they did during the union’s recent work stoppage.

The CFL and CFLPA reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement on Wednesday, ending a four-day player strike that started following the expiration of the previous CBA. The deal was voted down by the players on Monday.

According to 3DownNation‘s John Hodge, the CBA was rejected due to changes to the ratio, the lack of a ratification bonus, and revenue sharing not starting until the midway point of the agreement.

The Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers issued statements on Tuesday indicating that they are optimistic this weekend’s preseason games will be played as scheduled. Winnipeg is set to host the Edmonton Elks on Friday evening, while the Stampeders are scheduled to host the B.C. Lions on Saturday afternoon.
