Winnipeg Blue Bombers release quarterback Jake Floriea

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released American quarterback Jake Floriea two weeks after he was added to the club’s roster.

The six-foot-one, 215-pound passer time spent at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Toledo, and John Carroll University. During 10 starts in his senior season at John Carroll, Floriea completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,515 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Mentor, Ohio native also ran for 204 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns. Floriea was a 2021 honourable mention All Ohio Athletic Conference player as well as a spring 2021 All Ohio Athletic Conference honourable mention.

Winnipeg is now down to four quarterbacks in training camp, including starter Zach Collaros, journeyman Dakota Prukop, second-year passer Dru Brown, and rookie Joe Mancuso.

The Blue Bombers also released American defensive lineman Inoke Moala.
