The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed National fullback Bruno LaBelle, adding one of the top prospects from the 2021 CFL Draft after a stint in the NFL

LaBelle was originally drafted by the Riders with the 20th overall pick in the third round of last year’s draft, but the six-foot-four, 248-pound college tight end signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. LaBelle spent the majority of last season on the team’s injured reserve.

The Montreal native played four collegiate seasons at the University of Cincinnati, seeing action in 46 games on both offence and special teams. The 24-year-old recorded just 20 receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns with the Bearcats but earned a reputation as one of the best blockers in college football.

The Riders also added National long snapper Zach Zynomirski, after he was released by the Calgary Stampeders earlier this week.

The six-foot-two, 215-pound specialist played four collegiate seasons at the University of Western Ontario, winning the Vanier Cup with the Mustangs in 2017 and 2021. Zynomirski recorded nine career tackles and added two more in the 2021 Vanier Cup victory.

Additionally, the team released American defensive lineman Ezekiel Rose and moved American wide receiver Jamal Custis to the suspended list.
