Redblacks sign veteran CFL offensive lineman Randy Richards

The Ottawa Redblacks have bolstered their offensive line with the addition of veteran CFL offensive tackle Randy Richards.

The 31-year-old returns to the CFL following a brief retirement from professional football. He has previously played career 39 regular season games split between the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, and Toronto Argonauts.

The native of Kingston, Jamaica was part of the Calgary team that defeated the Redblacks to capture the 2018 Grey Cup.

Ottawa allowed a league-most 53 sacks in 2021, which was 13 more than any other team. The club signed former Stampeders’ left tackle Ucambre Williams in free agency but lacked a veteran presence at the right tackle position.

Prior to coming to Canada in 2015, the six-foot-three, 304-pound blocker spent time with the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL. He attended the College of the Sequoias before transferring to Missouri State from 2011-2012.
