Montreal Alouettes re-sign veteran quarterback Trevor Harris for 2022 season

The Montreal Alouettes have signed veteran quarterback Trevor Harris to a one-year contract for the 2022 season, per sources.

Head coach Khari Jones now has a quarterback room that includes Vernon Adams Jr., Dominique Davis and Harris.

Harris split the 2021 season between Edmonton and Montreal. In six games with the Elks, he completed 70 percent of his passes for 1,568 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions. After the Als traded for him, the six-foot-three, 212-pound QB had a 70 percent completion rate for 703 yards with eight touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The 35-year-old started the East Semi-Final against Hamilton, completing 28-of-44 pass attempts for 364 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a 23-12 loss to the Tiger-Cats.

Harris has been in the CFL for nine seasons and suited up in 143 career regular season games, 81 starts with a 40-39-2 win-loss record and 2-3 playoff mark. He completed 2,054-of-2,910 pass attempts (71 percent) for 24,453 yards with 134 touchdowns and 59 interceptions. Although not known for his rushing ability, Harris has carried the ball 204 times for 811 yards (4.0 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns.

He led the CFL in touchdown passes in 2015 and was named an East Division all-star in 2016 while helping the Ottawa Redblacks win the Grey Cup that year.

The former Edinboro University Fighting Scots QB had stints in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2010. He completed 14-of-21 passes (66 percent) for 116 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions during two pre-season games, but he was released among final training cam cuts. Harris had a stint with Buffalo Bills in 2011.
