Alouettes hire longtime CFL coach Jeff Reinebold as special teams coordinator

The Montreal Alouettes have hired Jeff Reinebold as their special teams coordinator for the 2022 season.

According to Reinebold, he declined an offer to return to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats following the 2021 season which ended in a 33-25 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 108th Grey Cup. There were lingering questions regarding the decision by Tim White to take a knee in the end zone and concede what turned out to be a crucial single point after the defeat.

Last season marked Reinebold’s seventh campaign with the Ticats while helping them make their second straight CFL championship game appearance. Reinebold has 40 years of coaching experience, including 17 seasons in the CFL.

The South Bend, Indiana native’s CFL resume also includes various roles with the B.C. Lions (1991-1993, 1996, 2018), Las Vegas Posse (1994), Edmonton (1995), a two-year stint as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1997-1998) where he produced a 7-29 win-loss record — missing the playoffs both seasons — and one year as defensive coordinator for the Als in 2012.

The 64-year-old Reinebold is well known for his special teams units.
