The Calgary Stampeders suffered an early second half touchdown against following the ejection of veteran defensive end Shawn Lemon, but it appears the pass rushers unseemly behaviour was not without provocation.

In a halftime interview, Calgary defensive back Jonathan Moxey suggested that Lemon was provoked when he was spat on by a Rider player during a scrum to end the first half. That provoked the veteran to deliver a two-handed punch to the face of receiver Duke Williams and get tossed from the West Semi-Final.

Lemon was assessed a 25-yard penalty to be administered at the start of the third quarter and disqualified. No other players were penalized for the incident.

The Riders took advantage of the free field position to attempt a surprise onside kick to start the second half, recovered by AC Leonard. That resulted in a Kian Schaffer-Baker touchdown catch.
