Nicked up Isaac Harker a reminder of why Cody Fajardo didn’t dress for Riders’ finale

The Saskatchewan Roughriders sat Cody Fajardo out of their regular season finale loss in Hamilton Saturday and the fourth quarter supplied fans with a reminder why.

Quarterback Isaac Harker, who filled in for most of the game, appeared to jam his throwing hand on a Ticat defender at the end of his follow-through from a pass thrown.

Harker did finish the game and expects to be ready to go for backing up Fajardo in the West Semi-final next Sunday in Regina.

“I haven’t gotten it checked out or anything like that,” Harker said.

“But when I was coming through, (it) did get my arm while it was in the throwing motion and it hurt, but I just had to finish out the game.”

It was nothing game all-around, as the contest had no bearing on the final standings for either side and it showed with the quality of play on the field.

However, if there’s any issue with Harker at all, it could force the Riders to elevate Mason Fine to the backup role, putting him just one bad hit on Cody Fajardo away from carrying the hopes of Rider nation through the playoffs.

That’s a stark reminder of why Fajardo didn’t play Saturday’s game at all to begin with.
