Toronto Argos release former NFL defensive lineman Eli Harold

The Toronto Argonauts have released defensive lineman Eli Harold, per sources.

Harold played six games for the Argos in 2021 recording six tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. He originally signed with the double blue in December 2020, but the 27-year-old is now a free agent.

The pass rusher was a third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL draft. He spent three seasons with the team, making 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Traded to the Detroit Lions in August 2018, Harold made 10 tackles, four tackles for loss, and four sacks for his new club in 13 games. He was in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019 but was released as part of final cuts.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound Harold earned over $4.4 million while playing in the NFL.
