The Montreal Alouettes have signed quarterback Shea Patterson, per source.

Patterson was with the B.C. Lions for the first five weeks of the 2021 CFL season, but was released after the team signed former NFL draft pick Danny Etling.

The Toledo, Ohio native transferred from the University of Mississippi to the University of Michigan for his final two years of NCAA eligibility (2018-19). He was named third-team All-Big Ten in both seasons with the Wolverines, passing for 5,661 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He also added seven scores along the ground.

The six-foot-two, 202-pound passer went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft before attending training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs. He later joined the Blues of The Spring League before coming north to the CFL.

Vernon Adams Jr. is well-entrenched as the starting quarterback in Montreal with veteran Matthew Shiltz as his backup. Rookie pivot Nick Tiano is currently on the team’s practice roster after spending training camp with the Toronto Argonauts.
