Edmonton Elks quarterback Trevor Harris has been placed on the six-game injured list.

The 35-year-old Harris initially sustained a neck injury in Edmonton’s Week 6 game against the Calgary Stampeders. The veteran pivot was subsequently cleared for practice earlier this week, and was on-field both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The injury has slowly progressed, resulting in Harris removing himself from practice late on Wednesday due to increasing pain and other symptoms.

The transaction was made official Thursday by the Elks ahead of the team’s practice at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. Edmonton is preparing for a Week 7 matchup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday, September 18.

Harris has started five games this season, leading the Elks to a 2-3 record. He has completed 74.1 percent for 1,481 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.

The six-foot-three, 215-pound passer has thrown for 23,663 yards, 126 touchdowns, and 57 interceptions over nine CFL seasons with Toronto, Ottawa, and Edmonton.

Edmonton signed Harris as a free agent in February 2019 following a three-year stint with the Ottawa Redblacks.
