Edmonton Elks star receiver Greg Ellingson fined for throwing gloves to young fan

Edmonton Elks all-star receiver Greg Ellingson has been disciplined by the CFL.

Ellingson tweeted on Friday: I was fined 250 for throwing my gloves to a young fan that told me I was his favourite player.

That came after teammate Justin Renfrow disclosed his fine for signing a young fans hat.

The 32-year-old pass catcher has played four games for the Elks in 2021. He’s made 22 receptions for 266 yards as Edmonton sits at 2-2 overall. He has played 111 career CFL games, making 524 receptions for 7,531 yards with 41 touchdowns.

Ellingson has recorded five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He was named a West Division all-star for the first time in 2019 after spending the previous four seasons as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks.

The six-foot-three, 197-pound target has become a fan favourite across the league for his consistently outstanding play.
