Upcoming Elks-Argos game at risk of being postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests

An upcoming game between the Edmonton Elks and Toronto Argonauts is at risk of being postponed, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji.

On the heels of @elks cancelling practice this morning, I’m hearing that there have been multiple positive covid tests and that this Thursday’s game vs #Argos is very much in jeopardy of being postponed.

Edmonton defensive end Kwaku Boateng was ruled out of action in Week 3 after entering COVID-19 protocol on Wednesday.

The Argos defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their home-opener at BMO Field on Saturday and are slated to host the Elks on Thursday evening.

Any individual that tests positive is prevented from joining or is removed from team activities, and is isolated or quarantined, in accordance with the CFL’s return to play health and safety protocol, Public Health Agency of Canada protocol and local public health protocol.

The CFL initially reported that ten individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 during the league’s pre-training camp screening process. It was later determined that three were false positives, bringing the total down to seven. There were zero positive tests through the first two weeks of training camp.

Two players on the Elks recently tested positive for COVID-19, including offensive tackle SirVincent Rogers. There was no evidence of further spread on the team, which allowed the schedule to continue as normal.

Lalji also reported that all of B.C.’s COVID-19 tests came back negative on Saturday.
