The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian defensive back Jordan Beaulieu, per source.

The Western product was a third-round pick of the Edmonton Elks in 2018 out of Western University. He appeared in 30 games over two seasons with the team, recording two defensive tackles and ten special teams tackles. He was a surprise cut at the end of training camp in July.

The five-foot-eleven, 198-pound defender should help add depth at the safety position where Ottawa has already been tested this season. Carleton product Justin Howell missed the team’s season-opener in Edmonton due to injury and starter Antoine Pruneau missed a handful of snaps after getting shaken up on an awkward collision.

Beaulieu still has untapped potential and should contribute with the Redblacks on defence and special teams.
