Ratio-breaking offensive tackle Jason Lauzon-Seguin retires from Montreal Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes have lost a key offensive lineman ahead of the 2021 season.

Canadian tackle Jason Lauzon-Seguin has retired, per source, ending his four-year CFL career. He was placed on the team’s suspended list on Tuesday after he did not report for training camp and has decided to end his career.

The six-foot-four, 300-pound blocker was a first-round pick of the Redblacks out of Université Laval in 2016. He played fourteen games as a rookie and won a Grey Cup when Ottawa upset the heavily-favoured Calgary Stampeders.

The 30-year-old fought injuries in 2019, starting only seven games at right tackle. He remained a member of the Redblacks during the cancelled 2020 CFL season but signed with the Montreal Alouettes as a free agent in February 2021.

Montreal has lost a number young Canadian offensive linemen to retirement this off-season including Trey Rutherford, Zach Wilkinson, and Andrew Becker.

The Als are set to start training camp on July 10 with their first regular season game slated for August 14 against the Edmonton Elks.
